How to Re-Scan a Frequency to Add New Stations / Networks to your Receiver

Over time there have been New Stations or Networks that have been added to the Satellite.

If these Stations were added after you already have your receiver, you will need to Re-Scan the Satellite or the Frequency where the Stations are located.

Below, you will find instructions on how to Re-Scan your DBS1500 or DBS2550 Traxis Receiver or your 2700A or 3500SD Pansat Receiver, so you will be able to pick up the New Stations.

Other receivers operate very simular to the steps listed below, but you will likely have to refer to your owners manual to find the specific steps for your brand of receiver.

Traxis DBS1500 & DBS2550 Information & Re-Scan Instructions:

I Pre-Program the receivers that I sell and I EDIT the Radio Channel List, so that the Talk Radio Shows are at the Top of the Radio List. If you Re-Scan the Satellite or a certain Frequency that the channels are on, it will change the name of the channel and put them in a different location in the list. You can EDIT the list and the names of the channels to what you like and move them back up to the top of the list, after you Re-Scan them.

Step by Step Instructions to Re-Scan the Frequency of 11836MHz Vertical SR20765 & 12115MHz Vertical SR22425.
These are the main frequencies where most of the Talk Radio Channels are located.

Hit the MENU button on the Remote control. This will bring up first page of the MENU .

Right Arrow Once to the INSTALLATION screen of the MENU.
Be Careful here, not to enter the ANTENNA INSTALLATION part of the menu. If you make changes here, you might erase your channels.
Settings in this part of the menu must be set correctly to be able to receive the channels.

Down Arrow 2 times to the TRANSPONDER MANAGER and Hit OK.

Down Arrow in the TP List until you find the Frequency of 11836. On most Traxis receivers, this is line 16. In some earlier models, it may be line 15.

Look at the 2 signal bars in the lower right corner and verify that you have Level and Quality. Quality is the Important one. This verifies that you are getting the signal and the Quality should read from 45 to 75%. The higher the better.

Hit the BLUE button on the Lower Right Corner of the Remote Control.
This will bring up the Search Option Menu. By default, it will be set to ALL. Use your Right Arrow and change this to FREE. This will keep you from scanning in Scrambled Channels.
Hit the OK button on the Remote and the receiver will Re-Scan the Frequency.

After it is done scanning, Hit the EXIT button repeatedly, until you are completely out of the MENU and the receiver will Update the Data base and your new channels will have been added.

Now you can repeat the steps above, but this time when you are in the Transponder Manager, go down in the TP List, until you find the frequency of 12115 and then repeat the same procedure to scan in the New, "We The People Radio Network."

When you first got your receiver, below is what the channels were named and what stations were on them and what the new names of the channels will be now that you have Re-Scanned them:

Global Star 1 was World Wide First Amendment Radio on Right Audio & Scriptures For America on Left Audio. After Re-Scanning, this station will now be named: Star 1 & Star 2.

Global Star 2 was programming from GCN on Right Audio & the Overcomer Network on Left Audio. After Re-Scanning, this station will now be named: Overcomer / Star 4.

Global Star 3 was programming from GCN on Right Audio & Americas Voice Radio on Left Audio. After Re-Scanning, this station will now be named: Star 5 & AVR

Global Star 4 was RBN in Stereo. After Re-Scanning, this station will now be named: RBN radio.

You will have to go through your list of Radio Channels to find the new names. You can leave them where they are, or you can EDIT your list and move them back up to the top and even renamed them again if you like. Follow the instructions below to do this.

Hit MENU

Hit OK to the Channel Manager

Hit the RED Button in the lower Left corner of the Remote, which is the SORT Function. This will bring up the Sort function menu. Cursor down to the line that says, Manul and Hit OK. This will allow you to manually sort the channels in the list.

Cursor through the channel list using your Up or Down Arrow until you find the channel that you want to move up to the number 1 position. When you find the channel, Hit the OK button. This will put an Up and Down Arrow to the Right of the Channel Name. Now you can cursor up to the Number 1 position and the channel name will go up with you and when you get to the Number 1 position, Hit OK and it will put the channel at the top of the list and make it become channel Number 1.

Follow this same procedure with the remaining channels that you want to move.

After you have the channels back up in the top of the list, you can also rename or EDIT them if you like.

Highlight the channel you want to rename or EDIT and hit the YELLOW button on the remote control. This brings up the Channel Manager Menu and the top line will already be Highlighted.

Hit OK and it will bring up a box of all of the Letters and Numbers that you use to Change the name with. Cursor through the letters and numbers and highlight the First Letter you want to use and Hit the OK button. Then cursor to the next Letter and Hit the OK button again. Continue this procedure until you have spelled the name you want to use. There is an option in the Box to put a Space in between the Name and Number and all you have to do is highlight it and Hit OK and it will put a Space in. When you are done putting in the Letters and Numbers that you want to use, then highlight the Save box and hit OK. Your new Channel Name will now be in the Top Box of the Menu.

Now Hit EXIT and it will take you back to the channel list, where you can select the next channel that you wish to EDIT and follow the procedure above. Continue this until you are done EDITING all of the channels that you want and then completely EXIT the MENU. You will have to Hit the EXIT button 2 or 3 times to completely EXIT the MENU. When you do Exit, the receiver will save all of your changes to the data base and you will be ready to get back to listening to the Shows!
